WILLARD — Izzy Wamsley did her best Caliyah Clapper impression Friday afternoon.

Wamsley, Madison’s leadoff hitter, belted her first career home run and Clapper hammered her single season-record eighth as the top-seeded Rams rumbled to an 8-0 win over No. 5 Ashland in the first game of a Division III district semifinal doubleheader in Willard.

Madison (19-6) will play second-seeded Norwalk for a district title at 1 p.m. Saturday in Willard. The Truckers held on for an 8-7 win over Tiffin Columbian in Friday’s late game.

Madison scored three runs in the home half of the first, all with two out. Emma Stankovich doubled home a run before Campbell Kiser tripled to knock in courtesy runner Elle Schwartz. Campbell scored on a passed ball.

Clapper led off the third with a solo shot to center. Wamsley homered on the first pitch she saw to lead off the fifth. Wamsley was 4-for-4 with two runs batted in. Clapper was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Clapper picked up the win. She allowed two hits and struck out 11.

Gracie Ellis and Brynn Stitzlein had singles for the Arrows.
