SHELBY — North Central State College has announced its 2025 Summer Coding Camps, designed to inspire and educate middle school students in the field of computer science.
The camps will be at the Kehoe Center in Shelby and are open to students entering grades 6-8 in the 2025-2026 school year.
The Code-A-Carnival Camp for Beginners will take place on June 17-18. This camp is perfect for students new to coding.
The Advanced Code-A-Carnival Camp is scheduled for June 25-26, and is tailored for students who have completed the beginner camp or have prior experience with Python programming.
Both camps are limited to 30 participants to ensure a focused and engaging learning environment. Lunch will be provided on both days.
Participants in these camps will have the opportunity to design and develop their own arcade-style carnival games using Microsoft MakeCode. The hands-on learning experience aims to enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, and coding skills in a fun and interactive setting.
Thanks to the support from Microsoft TechSpark, the North Central State College Foundation and the Mansfield-Richland Area Educational Foundation, the camps are offered free of charge.
Registration is open until May 23. Interested students can register at https:/ncstatecollege.edu/summer-coding-camp/.
