SHELBY — Brayden DeVito doubled up in All-Northwest District balloting.
A 5-foot-11 junior guard, DeVito was chosen the Division IV Co-Player of the Year when the all-district team was unveiled Wednesday evening. He shared the award with Otsego’s Kaidyn Hutton.
DeVito was also selected the Division IV Offensive Player of the Year during football season.
The Whippets reached the district championship game thanks in large part to DeVito. He averaged 18.9 points a game.
Clear Fork’s Garett Hotz joined DeVito on the Division IV first team. The 6-foot-4 senior averaged 18.1 points a game.
Ontario’s Cardae Brown was a second-team pick in Division IV, while teammate Trindon Flenoury was a third-teamer. Brown averaged 15.5 points a game, while Flenoury averaged 15.6 points a night.
Shelby’s Landon Foltz and Karsen Homan and Clear Fork’s Carter Coole were honorable-mention picks.
Division III
Lexington’s Scott Hamilton was selected the Division III Co-Coach of the Year after leading the Minutemen to a district runner-up finish. Hamilton shared the honor with Sylvania Southview’s Dennis Springs.
Mansfield Senior’s Kyevi Roane and Lexington’s Seven Allen were first-team picks. Roane averaged 17 points a game, while Allen averaged 13 points a game.
Lexington’s Joe Caudill was a second-team choice after averaging 13.1 points a night. Lexington’s Brayden Fogle, Gavin Husty and Jacob Legron were honorable-mention selections, as were Mansfield Senior’s Kaylen Brooks, Rashad Reed Jr., D’Vontae Johnson and Andrew Brooks.
Division V
Galion boasted four All-Northwest District honorees.
Dominic Capretta was a third-team choice after averaging 10.4 points a game. Quinn Miller, Jameson Glew and Max Albert were honorable-mention picks.
Division VI
Crestview’s Justice Thompson was selected the Player of the Year in Division VI, sharing the award with Colonel Crawford’s Brayden Holt and Toledo Christian’s Karter Koester.
A 6-foot-3 senior and Crestview’s career scoring leader, Thompson averaged 25.5 points a game. He was joined on the first team by Mansfield Christian’s Davion Mack, who averaged 19 points a game.
Crestview’s Tyson Ringler was a third-team pick. He averaged 12 points a night.
Mansfield Christian’s Evan Hager and Taylor Hahn and Crestview’s Karter Goon were honorable-mention selections.
Division VII
Plymouth’s Jarrett Burrer earned a spot on the Division VII first team. The 6-foot-2 junior averaged 17.2 points a game.
St. Peter’s Dmoni Lentes was a second-team pick. The senior averaged 14.3 points a night.
Lucas’ Zach Winters and Crestline’s Kody Lawhorn were third-teamers. Winters averaged 15.7 points a game, while Lawhorn scored 14.4 points a night.
St. Peter’s Antonio Lindsay and Sidiki Sissoko, Crestline’s Kieran Barnett and Brett Cheney, Plymouth’s Cainan Kilgore and Lucas’ Bobby Grover were honorable-mention selections.
