Miriam O. Penney, 92, of Mansfield, passed away Monday evening, January 27, 2025, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. She was born December 22, 1932, in Ashland, Ohio, to the late Lloyd Leedy and Flossie (Gregg) Leedy.
Miriam was an avid golfer and bowler well into her senior years and, more recently, enjoyed Euchre tournaments, Trivial Pursuit games, and challenging family members at Jeopardy. She was also a dedicated primary caregiver to her son, John, until a broken hip 18 months ago sidelined her. Miriam was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by sons, John Penney, Steve Penney and Paul Wise; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and nineteen great-great-grandchildren.
Miriam was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Charles O. Penney; parents; sons, Michael and David Penney; and three sisters, Evelyn, Frances and Lucille.
There will be no services at this time. A celebration of Miriam’s life will be planned at a future date. She will be laid to rest at Owl Creek Cemetery in Knox County.
