SHELBY — The Kiwanis Club of Shelby is actively trying to share its organizational purpose.

A bingo meet and greet was hosted by the club Saturday afternoon at the Little Shops of Shelby. The event was an opportunity to have fun, while also sharing the purpose of the Kiwanis organization — which is to serve children and empower communities to better the lives of young people worldwide.
During a break in the games, Mary Hooks, club president, shared some of the things the club has done locally, such as donations to Marvin Memorial Library’s summer reading program and Shelby Helpline Ministries’ school supplies program.
The club has also made donations to the Shelby diaper bank and food items to the Fish pantry.
Meetings are held the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at noon in Shelby at the Vault Wine Bar.
The club’s next event will be a drive-thru fish fry fundraiser at the Vault on Friday, March 21 from 4 to 7 p.m.
