Shana “Shawnee” Marie Grant, 71, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Crystal Care Center of Mansfield.
Born on September 5, 1953, in Mansfield, Shawnee was adopted by Gordon and Mable Smith, who raised her with love and care. Throughout her life, she was known for her kind heart and generous spirit, always willing to help those around her. She had a special talent for crafting. Shawnee was a lover of animals, always ready to lend a hand to any creature in need.
A proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 30 plus years, Shawnee found strength in her faith and the support of her AA family. Her religious faith was an important part of her life.
Shawnee had a special fondness for watching television, especially the QVC channel, where she was known to be a loyal viewer. Her passion for the channel’s offerings was so well-known that it is likely they will see a dip in sales with her passing.
In addition to her crafting, animals, and television, Shawnee’s true gift was her ability to care for others. Her home was always open to those in need, and her love for others was immeasurable.
Left to cherish her memories are her children: Scott (Pam) Grant of Crestline, and Barbara (Nick Bell) Hunt of Marion; siblings: Marty (Lesa) Kimmet of Kentucky, and Anthony “Mad Dog” Kimmet of Kentucky; longtime friend: Ginger Rothschild; 10 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Shawnee was preceded in death by her children: Hope Smith and Robert Grant, and her sister: Jeannie Smith.
A celebration of Shawnee’s life will be announced at a later date.
