NEW HAVEN TOWNSHIP — Four people were injured, three of them children, in a Friday afternoon crash in Huron County, according to the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Azucena Cuevas, 40, was the driver in the one-vehicle crash, and she was hospitalized
Three young children, ranging from 1 to four years of age, were hurt, one of them seriously. None of the children were secured in child safety seat restraints, the Patrol stated.
A 1-year-old and a 3-year-old boy were treated by North Central EMS at the scene. A
4-year-old girl sustained serious injuries and was flown by Medflight to University Hospitals, the Patrol said.
According to officials, the incident occurred on Friday at 2:49 p.m. on Boughtonville Road near Walnut Road in New Haven Township, Huron County.
The preliminary investigation showed a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country, operated by Cuevas, was traveling west on Boughtonville Road. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway striking a ditch and a guardrail.
Cuevas was wearing her seatbelt and sustained possible injuries. She was transported
by North Central EMS to Mercy Health in Willard.
