MANSFIELD — The NAACP #3190 is excited to invite the community to its annual Fish Fry, Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Mansfield UMADAOP Community Outreach Center (215 Trimble Road) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or until the food runs out).

This much-anticipated event brings together great food and a great cause, with proceeds supporting scholarships for local students.

Supporting education, 1 plate at a time

Hosted by the NAACP Education Committee, the fish fry helps raise funds for scholarships awarded to deserving students pursuing higher education.

This year, the committee is proud to announce that Mattison Moton, Santana Saavedra, Carmelo Smith, and Savannah Jackson are each receiving $1,000 scholarships to support their college or technical school journeys.

“One of our key missions at the NAACP is to encourage young people to continue their education and contribute to the community,” said Carla James, Chair of the Education Committee.

“This fundraiser plays an essential role in helping deserving students achieve their educational goals.”

What’s the menu

Guests can look forward to a delicious meal featuring freshly caught fish (or chicken, if preferred), green beans, macaroni and cheese, dessert, and a drink — all for a suggested donation of $15.

Additional contributions are always welcome, with all proceeds benefiting the scholarship fund.

The meal will be prepared by a dedicated team led by Dorothy Everson, who originally started this fundraiser as a way to help students in the community achieve their educational goals.

The NAACP would like to thank Dorothy and her family for their ongoing support and efforts.

How to get tickets

Tickets are available in advance by contacting Carla James at 419-573-9895 or Winston Greene at 419-610-1600.

They will also be available at the door. Guests can choose to enjoy their meal on-site or opt for carryout.

Let’s make this the best fish fry yet — come for the food, stay for the cause, and leave knowing you’ve helped make a brighter future for Richland County students.
