MANSFIELD — A 17-year-old boy was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital on Tuesday morning with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg, Mansfield Police said.
Sgt. Chad Brubaker said authorities are looking into a variety of possibilities.
“Everything we’re being told is that it’s self-inflicted,” Brubaker said. “The investigation is ongoing and we don’t know if we’re being told the truth or being lied to.”
A neighbor called police after hearing the gunshot. The incident occurred outside the residence at 129 Washington Ave.
“We have nothing to indicate that this was an attempted suicide,” Brubaker said. “We do not believe there are any perpetrators at large right now, but the investigation is ongoing at this time.”
