MANSFIELD — Local car enthusiasts and spectators from all around took in hot rods, classic cars and vintage vehicles Saturday at the 27th Heart of the City Cruise-In.
Hundreds of vehicles lined Mansfield’s Park Avenue West and surrounding streets from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the annual gathering Saturday under sunny skies.
The cruise-in began on the square in downtown Mansfield in August of 1995 and included 300 to 400 cars, according to the event’s website.

“Walking through the event, you’ll encounter an impressive array of meticulously restored vehicles,” the event’s website says. “From gleaming muscle cars to elegant convertibles, every car on display is a testament to the passion and dedication of its owner.”
Over the years, participation has continued to grow and entertainment for attendees has expanded — including live music, often performed by Mansfield-based musicians.
Ohio Express and The Heartbroke Band provided this year’s live performances.
Several local food trucks were available Saturday and Buckeye Imagination Museum setup an area dedicated to children. Richland Public Health had its mobile health clinic on display and local DJs provided entertainment with music and live remotes from the Central Park gazebo.
In an Aug. 24 press release, Mansfield Mayor Jodie Perry said “great cruise-ins start with great cars.”
“We got a lot of them (cars)… last year we had over 700 cars and approximately 7,000 people in attendance setting a new record,” Perry said.
“We attract all years, all styles, all stages of restoration, trucks, hot rods, classics and more.
“Our Heart of the City Cruise-In continues to draw more cars and more people even after 26 years of existence.”
