ONTARIO — Pittsburg Glass Works is looking to hire 90 to 100 full-time employees in the next three to four months.
The Crestline company is using Staff Management, on West Fourth Street in Ontario, to screen and hire applicants.
Staff Managements had a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning to celebrate — but it was also to kickstart the mountain of recruitment ahead of them. Crestline’s Pittsburg Glass Works LLC, is Staff Management’s first client.
Staff Management is a True Blue workforce solutions firm. The company is headquartered in Chicago and Washington D.C., but has smaller storefronts in communities all across the United States. Staff Management works with Fortune 500 and mid-sized companies to find and train new employees, among other services.
“Our name makes it sound like we’re a staffing agency, but we’re not,” Staff Management Recruiter Sarah Adkins said.
In contrast to temp agencies, Staff Management offers full-time employment with overtime and benefits. Senior Account Manager Mike Apking said he works with PGW managers on a daily basis.
“Some of those guys have been working out there for 10 years,” Apking said. Staff Management has worked with PGW for 12 years. “We work very closely with management over there so we know how to keep things running efficiently.”
The team — Apking, Adkins and Megan McKee — have started recruiting individuals for PGW positions already. Their first day in the new location was April 25. They said they’ve spent nearly $20,000 in recruiting strategies already.
First shift jobs start at $10 per hour and increase $.25 for each ascending shift. All first, second and third shift positions are currently open for PGW in Crestline. Raises start after 1,000 hours are worked.
“We want people to work full time,” Apking said, mentioning employees hired through Staff Management are also eligible for benefits, including paid vacations.
“We guarantee full-time work,” he added for emphasis.
To apply, Apking said applications are available on Staff Management’s website. He also encouraged those interested to call 419-528-1303 or to visit them at 1623 West Fourth Street.
