MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Symphony will once again partner with A Moveable Feast Supper Club, the Mansfield-based pop-up fine dining movement led by Susan Vander Maas and Rasul Welch for their “American Tribute” Symphony Concert on May 14.

The group will present an “American Picnic” farm to table dinner highlighting locally-sourced and sustainable foods themed to the patriotic concert program beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the upper lobby of the Renaissance Theatre.

“A Moveable Feast is excited to partner with the Renaissance Theatre and Mid Ohio Symphony to create a local, intentional American Feast. American cuisine is a beautiful combination of native and immigrant comfort foods. Join us in a celebration of our diverse and delicious national heritage,” said chef Rasul Welch of A Moveable Feast Supperclub.

The six-course meal will be paired with wine and beer from Cypress Hill Winery and Phoenix Brewing Company. The meal will begin with a playful charcuterie course of “pigs in a blanket,” “spam,” Homestead Springs smoked fish, pickled succotash, bread & butter pickles, and soft white bread with butter.

The second course will feature chop suey, one of the first authentically American “Asian-American” dishes in the United States, followed by a Boston Wedge salad with lamb bacon and bleu cheese and buttermilk dressing.

Cleveland-made Ohio City Macaroni will be served in the next course, an upscale “Mac & Cheese” with three-cheese béchamel sauce topped with homemade potato chips.

The main course will feature fried chicken and cornbread with tamarind maple barbecue sauce and braised greens from the North End Community Improvement Collaborative community gardens. The meal will come to a close with a homemade strawberry upside down cake with maple ice cream and chocolate bacon.

Volunteers from Pinnacle Building Services will generously staff the American Picnic pre-concert dinner.

Marketing and Facilities Manager Joseph Daniels stated, “Pinnacle is on a mission to clean up Mansfield one building at a time and this is another opportunity to partner with local businesses to further that goal.”

Following dinner, guests will attend the Mansfield Symphony’s American Tribute concert, a triumphant celebration of the most incredible patriotic music of all time. The program features works by Copland, Gould, Barber, and Sousa. Tickets to the American Tribute concert are being offered free of charge for all active military and veterans, and are available at the Renaissance Box Office with ID.

Tickets for the American Picnic pre-concert dinner and the Mansfield Symphony American Tribute Concert are available from $64 to $69.50, dependent upon seat selection for the Mansfield Symphony concert.

Tickets are on sale now at MansfieldTickets.com, at the Renaissance Box Office, or by calling 419-522-2726 on Tuesdays through Fridays from noon to 5 p.m. Guests with food restrictions should contact the Renaissance after purchasing their ticket. The Mansfield Symphony American Tribute concert is presented as a part of the OhioHealth Symphony Series.
