Darrell Lee Corwin, age 71, of Ontario, Ohio passed away on May 2, 2024 at home following an extended illness.
On March 26, 1953 he was born in Mansfield, Ohio the son of the late William Corwin and Ruth Corwin (Bailey). He married Pamela Kay (Barry) Corwin on June 11, 1971 at the Bethel E.C. Church and together they shared 52 years of marriage.
He previously worked at Sun Produce, Jones Potato Chips, Millirons, and retired from Rumpke. He was a member of Wings of Faith in Ashland, Ohio. Darrell enjoyed playing cornhole, softball, and bowling. In high school he played football and basketball. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes (but not a fan of the University of Michigan).
His proudest achievements were the love of his life and his beautiful wife, Pam “Luchie”; his two children, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was a devoted man of God, and the most loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and best friend you could ever ask for. He was a father figure to many, especially to Craig Penix and Harold Hamm. Darrell was a jokester, he had a talent for making people smile and laugh and even blush now and then. The last four words he said, he said to his wife were “I’m thankful”, she asked what he was thankful for and he said “for Jesus” The family would like to thank everyone that reached out with condolences love prayers and gifts and food.
He has survived by his beautiful wife, Pam; he was a proud dad of two children, daughter and daughter-in-law, Deena and Melissa Hamilton of Mansfield, son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Kim Corwin of Mansfield; grandchildren, Kyle (Brittany) Rhodes of Lexington, Aaron Rhodes of Columbus, Austin Rhodes (his fiancé, Justin) of Nashville, Tennessee, Taryn Corwin (her fiancé, Brandon) of Cuyahoga, Falls, Riley Corwin (his girlfriend, Goelena) of Mansfield; great grandchildren, Lily, Londyn and Ledger Rhodes; his siblings Von (Jeff) Murray, Keith Corwin, Cindy Egner, Julie (Larry) Britton and many beloved nieces, and nephews; mother-in-law, Shirley Barry, “Grandma” of Mansfield and lifelong friend Howard Godbee of Trinity, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth Corwin and siblings Mark, Vickie and Scott.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 4646 Hazel Brush Rd., Shelby, OH.
The service will be at 3 PM for family and friends with a potluck dinner at 4 PM. Bring a covered dish or dessert, what you like to drink and chairs.
