ONTARIO — The Richland Academy of the Arts is displaying a new mural by Ontario High School student Zachary McChristy.
The colorful piece is now on display on the second floor of the academy, and students are encouraged to take a step back and admire it.
McChristy has been working on visual art projects for over four years.
His work is often displayed in the hallways at Ontario High School, and he has had pieces on display in regional, district, and state shows.
One of those pieces was a portrait art made entirely of masking tape, which was displayed at the Department of Education building in Columbus.
He began working on the current mural in the fall of 2023, and spent four weeks working on it, working some mornings before school and late at night.
He covered his work in progress with paper every day, and the RAA students became increasingly curious about what was hidden behind the brown paper.
On April 26, McChristy unveiled the mural, and the kids in attendance stood by in awe and excitement as he added the finishing touches.
The RAA is proud of McChristy’s artistry, and we’re honored to have his work displayed at the Richland Academy of the Arts.
This mural is proudly displayed on the second floor of the academy. Students are encouraged to take a picture in front of the mural and tag Richland Academy of the Arts on social media.
