GALION — Cardington’s Savannah Chalfant tossed a two-hit shutout and smacked a three-run homer to lead the Pirates to a 9-0 victory over Galion on Monday night.
Chalfant whiffed 14 in dropping the Tigers to 1-1 on the season.
Emily Sedmak, pitching for Galion, took the loss. She allowed nine runs in 6 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out three. Gabby Kaple and Aleena Truman each recorded a hit in the losing effort.
Cardington-Lincoln (26-4) last year, didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring five runs in the third inning.
