Veterans Day will be observed with a parade in Mansfield on Monday. The parade begins at Park Avenue West and Marion Avenue at 10 a.m. and proceeds to Park Avenue East at the Central Park gazebo for a program at 11 a.m. The parade honors all of Richland County’s veterans and the ceremony will include parade grand marshal Dean Krance as the keynote speaker.
Krance is the secretary of the Richland County Veterans Service Commission representing Vietnam veterans. He served in the US Army from 1972 to 1974 and is a life member and past commander of American Legion McVey Post #16. He is also a life member of AMVETS Post #26, a member of Richland County Voiture 20, 40 et 8, and is Secretary of the American Legion State Golf Commission. Krance is also a two-time past president of the Mansfield Memorial and Patriotic Association, a member of the Richland-Ashland Chapter Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and a member of the Mansfield Liederkranz. Krance has lived in Richland County since 1956.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) estimates, based on data from the end of fiscal year 2010, that that there are a total of 899,615 veterans in Ohio. Veterans Day salutes all veterans who serve/served the United States Armed Forces.
Military veterans and their families, and local communities members are encouraged to attend the parade.
