Halloween

MANSFIELD – Although the eventful month of October won’t be what people have typically expected each year, there are still plenty of things to do and be excited for in Mansfield.

Here’s a list of just a few fun opportunities to get involved individually or with family and friends:

Oct. 2: First Friday & Saturday Pop-Up Shop – On the first Friday and Saturday for the next three months, Downtown Mansfield will host pop up shops at Social on Main pop-up shops. It’s a great way to support local businesses!

Oct. 2: First Friday at the Carrousel – Take part in some early Halloween fun at the Carrousel, which will run backward. Show up in a costume and get a free ride!

Oct. 3:  Live Music: Coma Love on the Patio (Weather Permitting) – Need a cozy date night out? Go out to Hudson and Essex for a bottle of wine and some local live music.

Oct. 9: Escape the Blood Prison – If you’re looking for a scare, visit the only haunted hellscape in a real prison—The Ohio State Reformatory—starting Oct. 9 through Oct. 31, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Oct. 10: Halloween Party Hosted by Moms Club of Mansfield – Bring your kids dressed up in their costumes for some snacks, fun, crafts, games and candy at Bicentennial Park in Lexington. COVID guidelines must be followed.

Oct. 17: Local rock show at Belcher’s House of Rock – Divebomb, Nick Careless, Gutter Catz and Bird’s Cage will headline this all local show.

Oct. 19-25: Garden Gateway Grand Opening at Kingwood Center Gardens – Experience something new every day of Grand Opening Week! The Gateway Café and Garden & Gift Shop will have specials all week for you to enjoy.

Oct. 24: Trunk or Treat – Join the Mansfield Area Y for their 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat! This event is free to the public.

Oct. 25: The Wicked Lobstah In Mansfield! – By popular demand, this food truck will be rolling back into Mansfield to serve at the Phoenix Brewing Company.

Oct. 30: Fall Pour One Nine Beerfest at Kingwood – This event will feature over 20 fall brews and wines from around Ohio along with jack-o-lanterns, live bands, and great food. This event will be held at the new garden gateway and visitor center.

Oct. 30: Heavy Halloween at The Electric Co. Wear your costume and go see Thunder Kiss ’65, Mansfield’s own Rob Zombie Tribute, along with Sanitarium, Columbus’ hometown (Mandatory) Metallica Tribute, as well as host band of “Master Of Tributes” at this Halloween night tribute show.

Oct. 31: Malabar Barn Dance – Malabar Farm State Park continues a Bromfield tradition of square and line dance with live music and a caller. Beginners are welcome! Food concessions are available.

Oct. 31: Monsterfield Masquerade – Get your ghoul on during Monsterfield Masquerade in historic downtown Mansfield. Trick or Treat begins at 11 a.m. and the Parade at 12 p.m.

Oct. 31: THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW at the Renaissance Theatre – Probably the oddest, most off-the-wall cult film ever made, this kinky rock’n’roll science fiction horror satire is everybody’s favorite midnight show. A young couple stumbles into a castle inhabited by weirdos from the planet Transylvania including Dr. Frank N. Furter (Tim Curry), a Frankenstein in rhinestone heels. A marvelous musical spoof that urges, “Give yourself over to absolute pleasure.”
