MANSFIELD, Ohio — Dr. Walter Kania will be at Main Street books on Nov. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. to discuss his latest work, “Spirituality Without Sin and Salvation: Psychology and the New Paradigm for Religion” on Nov. 14.
Kania argues the decline and fall of traditional religion is a reality in the U.S. There is a new emerging consciousness of Spirituality. It is sometimes described as a “search for the sacred.”
Kania believes it can also be the substance of one’s inner journey in relation to the source from which all things come. The field of psychology provides one with a positive and healthy means of escape from destructive concepts of a failed theology. The new paradigm of healthy religion shatters the shackles of the traditional and present-day religious hucksters.
Kania, a clinical psychologist, is a former USAF multiengine pilot who was educated at Miami University, The Ohio State University, Texas Christian University, and received his Ph.D. degree at Michigan State University. He has held faculty positions in the Department of Religion at Texas Christian University, and in the Department of Psychology at Bethany College and The Ohio State University. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Brite Divinity School, a graduate theological seminary at Texas Christian University.
