ONTARIO — The Christmas Toy Drive 2021 was a huge success, according to Ontario Police Chief Tommy Hill.
“There were 48 families, including over 135 children in our area who received Christmas presents this year as a result of our community and their giving spirit,” Hill said.
This year’s program started with the Toy Wavier Program and with our partnership with Springfield Township Fire/EMS and their collection box locations. As a part of the Toy Waiver Program, the Ontario Division of Police was able to provide a significant amount of toys to the children that were affected by the Kentucky Tornados.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to all of the victims of the tornados and their families,” Hill said. “It is our sincere hope that because of the generosity of the citizens of Richland County, they are given a small measure of hope.
“This also would not be made possible without the support of Mansfield Motorcycle Club, Once Upon a Child, Menards, Family Farm and Home, Dollar General and the First Responders Foundation.”
Hill said he wants to thank all the Ontario Police Officers and STED Fire Fighters and a Special Thank You to Officer Allie Shepherd for coordinating the program once again this year.
“None of this would have been possible without the support of the community, for which we are grateful,” Hill said. “Merry Christmas from all of us to all of you.”
