GALION, Ohio — Galion High School’s Homecoming festivities begin tonight.
Events begin Thursday, Oct. 8 with the Homecoming pep rally and bonfire from 6 to 8 p.m. at the football practice fields behind Unckrich Stadium Oct. 8. The Connections Weekend Career Day at the Galion Middle School is scheduled throughout the school day Oct. 9.
Galion alumni will share their career experiences and insights with high school and middle school students in small, intimate group settings. On Friday night, the 2015 Galion Homecoming Queen will be announced prior to kickoff of the varsity football game against River Valley.
The Galion Alumni Band will perform with the Tiger Marching Band during halftime, and Alumni Cheerleaders will be cheering on the Tigers with the Varsity cheerleading squad.
“Our students have a tremendous opportunity to network with alumni during Homecoming thanks to the tireless work of our Connections Weekend committee,” principal Ron Williams said. “We are very fortunate to have alumni who not only enjoy coming home to Galion, but are proud to come back and work with our students to help them in their future endeavors.”
The Homecoming festivities conclude for alumni with the annual Alumni Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony. This year’s class includes: Robert Morgan (Class of 1955), Dr. Stanley Grogg (Class of 1963), John McWilliams (Class of 1965), Shawn Mateer (Class of 1976), Scott Reynolds (Class of 1976), Gary Frankhouse Jr. (Class of 1989), Dave Spraw (Class of 1966, Educator). The dinner begins at 6 p.m. in the Galion Middle School cafetorium Saturday, Oct. 10.
“Homecoming Weekend is a very special time for our students, staff and community,” Superintendent Jim Grubbs said. “School spirit is at its highest during homecoming week and we hope our community will get involved in the celebration.”
The Homecoming festivities will conclude with the annual Galion Homecoming Dance Oct. 10 in the Galion High School gymnasium.
