Marilyn Jean Eyer, 86, of Mansfield, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at Oak Grove Manor in Mansfield. Born May 1, 1935 in Mansfield she was the daughter of Russell and Grace (Tucker) Eyer.
After graduating from Mansfield Senior High, Marilyn went to work at Ohio Brass where she worked until it closed in 1990. She then went on to work for Eldridge Acrylics and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. In her younger days, Marilyn enjoyed traveling the globe with her friends, visiting many places in Europe and as far away as Israel. She loved to browse cookbooks and no matter what the ingredient, dish, or occasion, you could always count on her to have a recipe for it. Marilyn rarely met a dog or cat that didn’t like her, but if she did, she was always ready to bribe them with treats until they became friends. For a woman who never got her driver’s license, Marilyn was resourceful and always got where she needed to go. She was a generous woman and took pride in giving unique and thoughtful gifts. But most importantly, Marilyn’s deep faith in God guided her life and was her greatest source of joy. She was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where she enjoyed worshipping, participating in mission and community outreach activities, and especially working in the nursery entertaining the kids. She is now at peace in heaven with her Lord and Savior (and probably sharing her favorite angel food cake recipe).
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and lifelong friend and cousin, Vivian Groff.
A memorial service celebrating Marilyn’s life and faith will be held at a later date.
Wappner Cremation Center is honored to serve the family of Marilyn Jean Eyer.
