Roger A. McFarland, 64, of rural Loudonville died Sunday morning, July 19, 2015 in Ohio Health Grant Medical Center, Columbus after a short illness. Roger was born Jan. 6, 1951 in Millersburg and was the son of Clyde and Alice (Mellor) McFarland. Roger was a 1969 graduate of West Holmes High School and had lived in the Glenmont/Loudonville area all of his life. As a youth he attended the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Millersburg, was a member of the Ohio National Guard from 1970 – 1976, and was an independent owner operator truck driver for 38 years working most recently with Honey Creek Transport of Loudonville. In his spare time he enjoyed old hot rod cars, flower gardening, and raising Belgian draft horses but the love of his life was his family and grandson.
Roger is survived by his wife, Pam Cornelius McFarland, whom he married Sept. 18, 1976; his son, Roger E. (Julie) McFarland of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Cheri McFarland of Mansfield, and Nicole (Brad) Bilancini of Loudonville; his grandson, Ethan Bilancini; his mother, Alice McFarland of Millersburg; and his sister, Nancy (Pete) McManaway of Millersburg. He was preceded in death by his father and his son, T.C. McFarland on Sept. 25, 1998.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 23, at 10:30 a.m. in Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with Pastor Clyde Ondrizek, officiating. Burial will follow in Loudonville Cemetery.
