SHELBY, Ohio – In accordance with state law, an open search is being conducted to find a candidate to run for mayor of the city of Shelby on the November general election ballot. This search follows the withdrawal of Harold Shasky from the fall ballot.

“Mr. Shasky designated a ‘Committee of Five’ on his nominating petition,” stated Ted Clabaugh, the committee’s chairperson. “Ohio Revised Code Section 3513.31(F) empowers the committee to certify a replacement candidate.”

Shelby’s charter requires that a candidate for mayor must be a resident elector of the city. Interested persons are asked to submit a cover letter and resume by Friday, July 24 to: Committee of Five, c/o Ted Clabaugh, 17 West Gaylord Ave., Shelby, OH 44875.

After certification, the candidate must file a financial disclosure statement with the Ohio Ethics Commission.

The committee will meet at a later date to review the applications.
