BELLVILLE, Ohio–The Clear Fork Board of Education announced the hiring of Bradd Stevens as the new treasurerat a special board meeting Thursday evening.

Board President Jim DeSanto; board members Jim Klenk, Randall Freeman, and Jim Jackson; and Clear Fork Superintendent Janice Wyckoff unanimously voted to hire Stevens. Jason Snyder was unable to attend the meeting.

Stevens’ contract is in effect from August 1, 2015 through July 31, 2017. Stevens will serve in the interim from June 1 until July 31. Beginning August 1, 2015, he will assume his contract term.

Stevens is replacing eleven-year treasurer, Larry Lifer.

Stevens, a 1990 Clear Fork graduate and resident of the district, formerly taught science and engineering at Fredericktown middle school and is currently serving as Treasurer of the Crestline School District.

Stevens has a long association with Clear Fork Schools; both of his parents taught in the Clear Fork Schools. His mother taught art for 30 years in grades K-6.

“I’m coming back home. I love the Valley. I’m excited to return and work with the administration, the teachers and the community,” Stevens said.

Board members each welcomed Stevens to his new position as treasurer and thanked Lifer for his years of service.

Lifer, who has been treasurer of not only Clear Fork but Crestview and Lucas, will spend half days in June to acquaint Stevens with his new position with Clear Fork.

“Larry was very gracious and accommodating in the selection process. He was doing three jobs and I thank him for his service,” DeSanto said.

DeSanto stated the board is looking forward to working with Stevens to strengthen and continue the financial stability of the District, as well as provide solid fiscal stewardship of taxpayer funds for the education of students in the Clear Fork schools.

Board members also extended their thanks to the many candidates who applied and were interviewed for the position and to Cheryl Ryan, Ohio School Boards Association, who provided her assistance throughout the search for a new treasurer.

Following the board vote hiring Stevens, routine business was discussed. Board members then went into executive session to discuss the terms of the contract with Stevens.
