MANSFIELD – A new restaurant and bar will open mid-summer at the former Goodfellows on Park Avenue West in Mansfield.

David Harmon, who owns multiple businesses in Richland County, recently bought the pizzeria and pub at 1349 Park Ave W. with intentions to remodel the space and reopen as “The Patio” by mid-July.

“The old wasn’t broken,” Harmon said. “So, I want to keep the old and bring in some new.”

He’s installed new flooring and reconfigured the bar layout since Goodfellows closed in mid-March, but the experienced business owner has especially focused on the large patio space behind the building.

“We have a big patio, and if we’re going to put a lot of money into it and utilize it, we want to make a statement,” Harmon said.

That’s why he named the place “The Patio.” The space will be repaved, and tables will be placed outside near a wooden stage, where Harmon hopes to hold small country and rock concerts.

“We want to give customers an atmosphere where things should cost a lot more, but we’re trying to keep it reasonable,” Harmon said.

The Patio’s menu hasn’t been determined yet, but Harmon expects to feature some unique items. He’s currently working with an outside consultant.

Harmon hopes to hire 30 people including kitchen staff, bartenders and security. He emphasized plans to create a safe environment through his security measures.

Anyone interested in applying can call 419-612-2401 or stop by 1349 Park Ave. W. from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Harmon will generally be available during those hours.

Harmon also owns The Gemini Social Club, a seasonal Halloween store and three local vapor shops, called Comic Cloud Vapor & E-Cigarette Shop & Lounge.

The former owner of Goodfellows was Louie Sorrenti, who Harmon has known for several years.

The Patio will be open from 11 a.m. to 1:15 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and from 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
