LUCAS — The Lucas Local Board of Education found its new superintendent after nearly two months of searching.

Brad Herman will begin his tenure with the district Sept. 1.

“I’m very excited,” Herman said. “I fell in love with the district during my interviews. I think this is a great opportunity.”

Herman, an alumnus of South East Local Schools district, has a 20-year career in education.

He said he has worked as a social studies teacher at Waynedale High School, then as principal at the school. He was a superintendent there for the past three years.

“I am excited to start,” he said. “I’m very familiar with small town school districts and this is a strong school district. I’m looking forward to building onto it.”

Herman and his family were introduced at the Lucas board of education meeting Tuesday night, interim superintendent Linda T. Keller said. Keller has filled in as interim superintendent since June 1.

Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center aided the school district with hiring by posting the position, answering any questions from applicants and worked with the questions for interviewing.
