Terry D. Briggs, 69, of Loudonville died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday morning, July 12, 2017 following a six-month battle with ALS.
He was born Oct. 16, 1947 in Denver, Colorado, and was the son of Wesley and Dorothy (Newberg) Briggs. Terry was a 1966 graduate of Hillsdale High School and a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam.
He worked 39 years and one month at Mansfield Plumbing Products before retiring in 2010. Terry enjoyed being a handyman for friends and was affectionately known as a ‘Jack-of-all-Trades.’ He was a member and avid supporter of the Loudonville-Perrysville Athletic Boosters Club for many years.
Terry is survived by his wife, Judy A. (Smith) Briggs, whom he married June 6, 1981; five children: Lesa (Eric) Deter, Todd (Crystal) Briggs, Andie (Ezra) Hogan, Chris (Mandy) Johnson, and Shawn (Melissa) Johnson; 14 grandchildren: Kristen, Amber, Cassandra, Hailey, Tiphani, Scott, Cody (Jamie), Felicia, Dylan, Vin, Drew, Sabrina (Chase Fidler), Mason, and Seth; two great-grandchildren: Raelyn Faye Baker, and Jasper William Briggs; three brothers: Jerry (Marilyn) Briggs, Kurtis (Suzann) Briggs, and Alec (Cathy) Briggs; three sisters: Beverly Masters, Joleen (John) Chance and Leann (Jason) Jelks; and one brother-in-law: Doug (Juanita) Smith.
A Celebration of Life Service with Chaplain Keith Bond officiating will be held on Saturday, July 15 beginning at noon in Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, where military honors will be provided by the American Legion and VFW.
