GALION – The annual Pickle Run Festival will take place over the Fourth of July Weekend in Galion. It’s an event filled with family-friendly activities.

The festival kicks off Saturday, July 1, in Heise Park with Galion YMCA’s triathlon and 5K run.

Punt, Pass and Kick returns at 11 a.m. and is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 15.

At Galion Community Theatre, there will be a Meet the Graders event from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a movie screening. Kids who show their ticket stub can get into that evening’s Galion Graders baseball game at 7:05 p.m. for free.

A new event this year is the Home Run Derby, which begins at 10 a.m. at the high school baseball field. Other Saturday tournaments include: Sand volleyball, 3-on-3 basketball, and cornhole. Anything Goes will return at 4 p.m.

The day will close with a Galion Graders game, as well as a teen night at the Heise Park pool from 7 to 9 p.m.

Pickle Run continues Sunday, July 2, with the 3rd annual Pickle Run Disc Golf Tournament located at Amann Reservoir. Online registration is currently open at www.discgolfscene.com.

In Heise Park, there will be a Car and Cycle Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A community church service will begin at 10:30 a.m.

There will also be a parade open to all local groups and businesses; applications are due by June 26. Prizes will be awarded for best decorations.
