MADISON TOWNSHIP — A Madison student was arrested Tuesday and faces a second-degree felony for inducing panic after a bomb threat on Friday at the high school, according to authorities.

The Richland County Sheriff’s office reported Larissa Elias, 18, was taken into custody on Tuesday after a joint investigation with Madison School officials. Elias was transported to the Richland County Jail.

The school’s administration called the Sheriff after a note was discovered just after 8 a.m. in the girl’s second-floor bathroom that indicated a bomb threat.

Richland County Sheriff’s Office Major Joe Masi said the note stated: “There’s a bomb. You have three hours.”

School officials called for the evacuation of the school and deputies worked with the administration on the investigation and clearing of the school.

No bomb was located and the premises was cleared for students to resume classes.

Elias is being held without bond until her arraignment, probably on Wednesday.
