MANSFIELD – A 36-year-old woman was declared dead Sunday morning after Sheriff’s deputies responding to a 911 call at 383 Apple Lane found her unresponsive after an alleged altercation with her husband.
Deputies found Amanda Preston in the garage at her residence after her husband, Herman Preston called 911 at 9:35 a.m.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office pronounced her deceased at 10:16 a.m.
During the 911 call, Herman Preston told the dispatcher that his wife had been drinking the night before and had cut him on the arm after becoming angry with him. He said he had locked her in the garage.
The Sheriff along with the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit arrived at the scene to investigate. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification was asked to respond to process the crime scene.
Richland County Prosecutor Bambi Couch responded to the scene as well.
The Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate.
