Color and lots of it sparkled the runway at the first annual Macy’s Homecoming Fashion Show held Saturday at center court  at the Richland Mall in Ontario.

According to Molly Pizzino, VP Store Manager at Richland Macy’s girls are looking to sparkle and burst with color. “What is trending is a lot of sequins, shorter styles and lots of color. The hi-low is very popular this year as well,” said Pizzino.

There were seven female models and one male model, high school students from Norwalk, Perkins and Ashland.

Estee Lauder Cosmetics of Macy’s did the make-up for the fashion show and handed out complimentary gift bags to the audience.

Maliyah Berry, a model and student at Perkins High School, commented that she was very excited to get on stage. “I love the dress I am wearing,” she said.

According to Chrystal Thomas, Cosmetics Sales Manager at Richland Macy’s this was their first homecoming fashion show. Macy’s does seasonal fashion shows throughout the year and decided this year to feature the homecoming dress selection available.

“The girls did a great job, I am anticipating a bigger, better show next year and hope to have models that represent every high school in Richland County,”said Thomas.

Thomas also added,”The girls really seem to like the feel of chiffon and they like the tulle-underlay that makes the dresses poof out a bit. Sparkle and sequins are pretty popular as well.”

Two lucky audience members won a $25 Macy’s Gift Card simply by sitting in a chair that had a secret red star hidden under the seat.
