MANSFIELD, Ohio -The 21st annual K.E. McCartney St. Patrick’s Day Memorial Luncheon is scheduled for Saturday, March 14. Doors open at 11 a.m., with lunch served at noon. The program will begin at 1 p.m.

The event will be held at the Kenneth E. McCartney Memorial Building in downtown Mansfield, located at 16 South Park Street.

This year’s speaker is Stan Jefferson from the Ohio State Football Program. Jefferson joined the Buckeye football staff in July 2004 as the associate director of football operations.

After two years in that capacity, he was named director of player development. In May, 2010, Jefferson was one of seven national recipients of the Ohio State African American Alumni Society Awards, receiving the Samella Lewis Professional Achievement Award for his long and distinguished career in education and athletics.

Jefferson works closely with the football operations staff in orchestrating the day-to-day workings of the football program. In addition to monitoring the academic progress of the student-athletes, he is also the point person for the Buckeyes’ far-reaching community relations and outreach initiatives.

Prior to coming to Ohio State, Jefferson spent nearly 30 years as a high school coach and administrator in Mansfield, and was one of the most respected educators in the state.

While serving as the head football coach at Mansfield Senior High School, Jefferson’s teams posted a combined record of 65-39, captured four league titles and made four playoff appearances between 1993 and 2002. Twenty times the Coach of the Year for track or football in the Ohio Heartland, Northwest District and Cardinal Conference, he was a finalist for the National Football League High School Coach of the Year award in 1999.

Tickets are $40 and may be purchased at the door on the day of the event.
