Eva Georgina Hornung, 92, of Mansfield passed away February 7, 2015 at Elmcroft of Ontario. 

Eva was born November 17, 1922 in Ashland County, Ohio to Michael and Magdelena Joppa Hornung. She was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School and a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Eva started working at Westinghouse, then worked as a cook at Possum Run Golf Course and Colony Lanes, and retired from the News Journal after 25 years. Later in life Eva lived with her parents caring for them and her sister Catherine. Although she never had children of her own, she had many wonderful nieces and nephews to love over the years. 

Survivors include her nieces and nephews Michael (Patricia) Worley, Fred (Randy) Moritz, Arlene (Peter) Tully, Annette Moritz, Lynn (Dann) Beaver, David (Iris) Hornung, Philip Hornung, Mary Kay (Mark) Kiamy, Edward Kleshinski, Joann (Joy) Griffin, Joseph Kleshinski, Jr.; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters Sister Mary Gabriel Hornung, Mrs. Frederick Agnes Moritz, Mrs. Chester Elizabeth Worley, Mrs. Joseph Catherine Kleshinski; brothers Mattias M. Hornung, John T. Hornung. 

Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. with a vigil service at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Gregory Hite officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Msgr. Dunn Foundation or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
