Richland Public Health and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources are sponsoring the annual Winter “Hike For Health,” Saturday, Feb. 21, at Malabar Farm.

The hikes through the woods to enjoy the winter wonderland at Malabar Farm will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hikes are self-guided on easy trails so everyone in the family can participate. Adults must accompany children.

Hiking is promoted as a healthy form of exercise in Ohio state parks. Hikers are encouraged to dress warmly and wear sturdy hiking boots, as the trail conditions may be somewhat snowy and icy.

The only reason the hike would be cancelled is if the roads to Malabar Farm are closed due to weather conditions on the day of the hike. Listen to local media for weather reports.

The starting point for hikers is the Malabar Farm Visitor Center where maps of the walking trails are available. Snacks and hot beverages for hikers will also be available either before or after the hike. This is a free event.
