CRESTLINE — The Crestline Harvest Festival has announced that Carol and Louie King have been chosen as the Grand Marshals for the annual parade.
The Crestline Harvest Festival takes place Sept. 16 to 18. The parade steps off on Sept. 18 at 3:30 p.m.
The Kings both have deep ties at Mansfield and Crestline.
Carol was born in Mansfield in 1939. Louie was born in Mansfield in 1934. The two grew up just one block from each other. Both graduated from Mansfield Senior High School.
Louie worked driving a semi locally but then was drafted into the Army in 1956. Carol worked at City Loan in Mansfield.
In 1960 they were married and moved to Crestline. They opened Crestline Parts Company aka NAPA. Louie ran the day-to-day business and Carol was bookkeeper.
They raised three children: Kenneth “Kenny King, Marcia “Marcy” (King) Kurtzman and Anna “No More” (King) Wade. All three are graduates of Crestline High School.
Through the years they have been involved with many events and organization: Calvary United Church of Christ, Crestline United Methodist Church, Northern Ohio Child Conservation League, Crestline Police Auxiliary, Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Club, Brownie Leader, Masons, Knights of Masons, Eastern Star and Grotto, to name a few.
Carol and Louie enjoy retirement with many friends and are thrilled to have all three children back in Crestline. They love spending time with them along with 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
