DOYLESTOWN — Hillsdale scored early and often to roar past Chippewa 47-14 in a Wayne County Athletic League contest on Friday night.

Quarterback Jake Hoverstock accounted for five touchdowns, rushing and passing, to lead the Falcons.

Hoverstock opened the scoring with a 21-yard touchdown run in the first period for a 7-0 advantage.

But the Chipps tied it when Colton Oyler fired a 70-yard TD pass to Owen Riggenbach.

Hillsdale took the lead for good after Hoverstock tossed a 2-yard TD pass to Jack Fickes with 10 seconds remaining in the first period.

That score triggered an avalanche

Owen Sloan romped to an 8-yard TD run, Hoverstock rifled a 60-yard touchdown pass to David Parker, and then tacked on a 15-yard scoring run with just four seconds showing in the half to make it 33-7 at intermission.

Chippewa’s Oyler found Isaiah Radebaugh for a 6-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to shave it to 33-14.

But Hoverstock’s 5-yard TD run made it 40-14 at the end of the third period and Brock Bower’s 25-yard touchdown pass to Hayden McFadden finished the scoring.

Hillsdale carved out a significant statistical margin. The Falcons led in first downs (25-12), rushing yards (426-98) and total yards (533-234).

Sloan topped the Falcons with 141 yards rushing, while Hoverstock added 89 more. Hoverstock also threw for 82 yards.

Hillsdale improves to 2-3 overall, 1-1 in the WCAL. The Chipps are 1-4, 0-2.

The Falcons host Dalton on Friday night, while Chippewa travels to Northwestern next week.
