MANSFIELD, Ohio–The Mansfield Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) this morning announced the arrest of the downtown Mechanics Bank robber. Chief Ken Coontz stated that several citizen tips were received on Jan. 8, and surveillance was then conducted at a local motel. Suspect Summer Stone was located as a result.
Stone, 29, a white female identified as a transient, was interviewed by detectives and then arrested in connection with the Jan. 5, 2015 robbery of Mechanic’s Bank. A portion of the money stolen was recovered. Stone was served a felony warrant for Robbery (F-2) and she is currently incarcerated at the Richland County Jail.
The Mansfield Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation thank the public for their help in identifying the suspect. Lt. Robert Skropits stated, “It is with continued collaboration of citizens and law enforcement that we can continue to make Mansfield a safe community to live and work.”
