CRESTLINE, Ohio — The Mid-Buckeye Conference should be a little more stable and the Bulldogs should be a little more competitive.
Crestline accepted an invitation to join the MBC at a school board meeting last week. The Bulldogs will begin play in the MBC in the next fall.
Crestline will be the seventh member of the Mid-Buckeye Conference. The MBC currently includes Mansfield Christian, St. Peter’s, Lucas, Loudonville and Danville. Kidron Central Christian will come on board in the spring.
“We’re excited to have Crestline,” Mansfield Christian athletic director Doug Taylor said. “So far this school year has been a huge year for the league and we are building on that momentum.”
Lucas, Loudonville and Danville, the MBC’s three football-playing schools, all qualified for the playoffs in the fall. Mansfield Christian won the Division III state championship in boys soccer.
“For Mansfield Christian, we’re excited to have another another local school in the league,” Taylor said. “Being in a league is new for us. We are thrilled to play meaningful games in February.”
Crestline was a member of the North Central Conference from 1990 to 2014 and moved with several former NCC members to the Northern 10 Athletic Conference (N10) for the 2014-15 school year.
Crestline is the smallest member of the N10. The MBC offers school with similar enrollment figures.
“They are a good fit in terms of enrollment,” Taylor said. “Most of the MBC school are similar sized.
“We are glad to have them.”
