MADISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio—A minor fire at the Ashland Road Burger King in Madison was quickly contained Friday afternoon. Madison, Mifflin and Franklin Township Fire Departments responded to the fire that occurred around 2 p.m.

Mifflin Fire Chief John Fry explained, “There was a roofing crew working up on top [of the building], and they reported that they had a gas leak that got inside the ventilation unit and those have a spark to start them. The gas got to the spark and caught the ventilation unit on fire.”

He continued, “There was no extension into the roof itself. We just had to cut the gas to the building and cut the power to the building so that we could then extinguish the fire inside the ventilation unit.”

No one was injured. “Everyone was out of the building when we got here,” said Fry.

Fry described the fire as minor, noting they used only one water fire extinguisher to put out the fire.

“This is Madison’s call but they were committed to other calls, so we were contacted for mutual aid,” he noted.
