Galion’s Cider Alley Fair plans to grow, expand, and “overflow” into the streets of Galion in the coming years. The event hosts many local merchants, artists and craftsmen can gather to create an enjoyable evening for families and has another installment coming up on Friday, Oct. 10 from 4 to 8 p.m.
“The vision was to create a space that people can come to enjoy the evening,” said organizer Kent Gimbel. Gimbel has had the idea for years, he said, but that it has just recently come to fruition.
Cider Alley is located in Galion, along Main Street. According to Gimbel, the vision is to grow the fair to the point where it would overflow out onto the street. The evenings have included live music from local bands, food, locally grown meats and produce, and crafts.
“As people participate in the event, we’ll add on to what is offered. It’s a snowball effect and it’s growing as more and more people participate. Anyone that wants to sell something, come on out,” said Terry Turner, one of Kimble’s visionary for the event.
The event will be held outdoors once a month, as long as the weather permits. If they can find an indoor venue, Gimbel and Turner plan on moving the event indoors when seasonal temperatures make an outdoor event prohibitive.
The Cider Alley Fair is free and open to the public.
