Turning 65 can be a dreaded moment for most people. While some are planners, there are others who’d rather not think that far ahead, especially when it comes to reaching that age where enrolling for Medicare seemingly becomes the forefront of every conversation.
Crestline local Denese Kelso Moyer, who turned 65 last year, received countless packets in the mail every day to add to her growing collection of endless Medicare plans to choose from. Having that many choices quickly overwhelmed her like it would anyone else.
“It’s like every day you’re getting another packet in the mail for some supplement. I got so sick of pamphlets coming to this house. I swear they killed the whole forest, just to send them to me,” Kelso Moyer said jokingly.
Kelso Moyer knew that with her limited knowledge of Medicare that she needed an insurance agent to get her on the right track before she and her husband had no Medicare. After speaking with several of her friends, they all recommended that she go and see Mary Beech, insurance agent at Parr Insurance.
Beech laid out all of Kelso Moyer’s options in detail and answered all of her questions and concerns. Soon after their conversations, Kelso Moyer chose her plan and never felt more assured with her choice. What she didn’t expect to feel was the level of gratitude and appreciation for Beech.
“My motto is ‘improving the lives of seniors one day at a time,’ and I just have a heart for helping people. I really have a heart for seniors,” Beech said.
Beech not only helped Kelso Moyer with choosing a Medicare plan but also with all of her finances and determining her roll-over plan for retirement. As an insurance agent, Beech knows what’s expected of her, but she takes it a step further, constantly checking to see if her clients are in the right networks in terms of medication, doctors, hospitals and pharmacies. She’ll also order her clients prescriptions if they can’t or don’t want to do it themselves, and also offer them rides to the bank if they need to see a specialist or have a billing concern.
In the past, Beech has dealt with insurance agents who did not take their clients best interests at heart. She remembers her late mother-in-law who lost $20,000 because she didn’t know she was eligible to have certain fees waived. Since then, Beech has been determined to never let that happen to any of her clients, and so far she’s aided 20 of them, saving them thousands of dollars.
“You want to be with (an insurance agent) that really cares about you… that if you call them and you really need something that they’re going to be on top of it,” Beech said. “I don’t forget my customers when the sale’s over.”
At Parr Insurance, seniors can expect to find an insurance agent they can trust with their finances and give them their best possible options.
“I feel I’ve acquired some new friends from the whole situation, so it’s just been a great experience all around,” Kelso Moyer said.
