Billy R. Tackett, 63, of Mansfield, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, following an extended illness.
Billy was born on May 4, 1951, in Logan, WV, to Richard and Ida (Lewis) Tackett. He retired from Embarq after 28 years of service. Billy loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a certified diver and assisted the Sheriff’s Dept. for many years with their search and rescue team. He enjoyed puttering around the house.
He is survived by his wife, Ora (Rose) Norris Tackett; two children, Chris (Tori) Tackett of Hilliard, and Maygan Tackett of Columbus; three step-daughters, Annette Jarrell of Lancaster, Carrie Gieseman of Columbus, and Laura Sinclair of Mansfield; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Kay Downs of Circleville and Eugenia “Jean” Lauringer of Newark; one brother, John Tackett; and nieces and nephews.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Luke Tackett; and one daughter, Melissa Tackett.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at First Assembly of God, 1000 McPherson, Mansfield, with Pastor Thomas Blair officiating. Werner Gompf Funeral Services, LTD is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in care of the family.
