ASHLAND — The answer is maybe, Mayor Matt Miller said at a press conference Friday.

As Ohio remains under lockdown until May 1, some communities have already cancelled a number of summer events. But Ashland is taking a wait-and-see approach for now.

The United States Boomerang Association’s 2020 National Championship initially set for June 13 and 14 at Freer Field has been postponed. It will be rescheduled in Ashland later this year. A date has yet to be determined.

The decision on whether or not to cancel the annual Ashland Balloonfest held in late June at Freer Field will wait until late May or early June.

Similarly, early June is the time frame Miller predicts a decision must be made on the city’s Fourth of July celebration.

He implied the fireworks could possibly go on, even if the community can’t gather in one location to watch them.
