Bernice June Bishop, 84, of Mansfield, passed away early Saturday morning, July 5, 2014 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She was born February 5, 1930 in Mansfield to the late Scree Mary Carter Stanish and Albert Kenneth Stanish. 

Bernice attended Mansfield Senior High School and was employed at the Leland Hotel as a server until becoming a full-time homemaker. Possessing a heart of gold, her family meant everything to her and she showered her love on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed picnicking with her family. Bernice loved nature and enjoyed fishing at Pleasant Hill Lake and hunting. Her wonderful sense of humor was enjoyed by all.

She leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Robert Bishop; two children, Cathy Bishop and Terry (Vicky) Bishop; four grandchildren, Jamie, Sarah, Nickolas and Breanna Bishop; two great-grandchildren, Madison Bishop and Taylor Smith; a brother, Albert (Phyllis) Stanish; a sister, Virginia Thompson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, David and Jeff Bishop.

A graveside service in Mansfield Memorial Park will be held Friday, July 11, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Christopher R. Thomas officiating. The family requests no flowers. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
