Larry Davis Borders, 75, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. The Lord was first in his life followed by his family.

Larry was born May 23, 1938 in Louisa, Kentucky to Davis Wallace and Amanda Belle (Vicars) Borders.

He married the love of his life, Esther “Petey” Mae (Haga) Borders on October 18, 1959. They have five living children and one deceased: Ronald Borders and Mary Middleton, William Borders and Barbara (Snavely) Borders, Gary Borders and Violet (Means) Borders, Barbara French, Margaret Williams and Gary Williams. He is survived by 14 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 7 step-great-grandchildren. All the loves of his life, his family meant everything to him.

He is survived by one brother, Richard (Ann) Borders of Galion; and one sister, Margaret Stevens of Ontario.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Davis and Amanda Borders; one daughter, Lori; 2 sisters, Ruth and Gloria; and 3 brothers, Ronnie, Robert, and Dale.

Larry loved spending time with the love of his life, his best friend and soul mate, Petey, of 54 years. He also loved fishing, drag racing, playing guitar, loving his grandchildren, and serving the Lord. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews, church family, and some very special friends: Alberto (Beverly) Tanzerella, Doug (Lyndi) Oakley, Flora Adkins, Jane Beasley, Freda Adkins, and Sally Murray.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor Micah Pelkey and Alberto and Beverly Tanzerella will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at East Gate Ministries, 1095 Koogle Road, Mansfield, OH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, OH 44905.
