Russell Henry Burton, 74, of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at his home following an extended illness.
Russell was born December 25, 1939 in Olive Hill, Kentucky and was the son of the late Oscar and Marie Burton. He retired from Conrail Railroad. Russell was a workaholic, loved the outdoors, enjoyed excavating, liked taking trips to Florida and traveling back home to Kentucky.
Russell is survived by his wife, Patricia (Carsey) Burton; two sons, Neal and Debbie Burton of North Carolina and Travis Burton of Texas; four step-children, Kecia and Don Zuercher, James Burdine, and Nancy Burdine all of Lexington, and Tina Beaver of Mt. Vernon; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Everett and Lynnie Burton of Bucyrus and Lonzo and Linda Burton of Kentucky; two sisters, Virginia and Bob Patterson and Ina Gail and Tom Meldrem all of Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Russell was preceded in death by one step-son, Fremont Burdine, Jr.; and three siblings, Geraldine White, Albert Burton, and Mary Rayburn and a granddaughter, Melanie Zuercher.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor John Johnson officiating.
