OhioHealth MedCentral Hospice is looking for volunteers to serve terminally ill patients and their caregivers.
Volunteer training classes will be held April 7 and 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on April 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided. The classes will be held at the OhioHealth MedCentral Hospice office, 1020 Cricket Lane, off South Trimble Road in Mansfield.
After the three-day training program and a successful background check, volunteers can assist hospice patients in their homes. Volunteers typically help in a variety of ways such as grocery shopping, writing letters and relieving the caregiver for short periods of time. Most importantly, a volunteer can be a friendly visitor.
OhioHealth MedCentral Hospice also is looking for office clerical volunteers and people to help with fundraising events throughout the year.
For more information or to register for the training program call Brenda Ewers, OhioHealth MedCentral Hospice liaison, at 419-520-2975.
