Alfred J. “Fred” Vaudreuil, 86, of South Dennis, Massachusetts, formerly of Crestline, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born to Emil and Dorothy Vaudreuil, Fred grew up in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, where he and his brother, Lenny served as altar boys and were active members of the Boy Scouts of America under their father’s leadership. During his childhood, the family endured the devastating 1953 tornado that destroyed their home. The experience brought challenges as the family was forced to live apart for several months while rebuilding, but it also strengthened the resilience and determination that would define Fred throughout his life.
Fred was a proud graduate of St. John’s High School in Worcester. Following graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force, where he proudly served and carried that sense of duty and commitment with him throughout his life.
Fred met the love of his life, Joanne (Dyment), while growing up in Shrewsbury. Together they built a beautiful life and shared nearly 50 wonderful years of marriage before Fred’s passing. Their love was the foundation of their family and remained one of Fred’s greatest blessings.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Fred treasured time spent with his family. In his younger years, he was an avid boater who loved spending days on both the lake and the ocean. As the years went on and the boating chapter of life came to a close, Fred and Joanne embraced a new adventure, traveling the world together and creating countless memories along the way.
Professionally, Fred followed in his father’s footsteps at United Screw Machine Products in Worcester, eventually succeeding him in the family business. He spent more than 40 years in the screw machine industry, earning the respect of colleagues, customers, and competitors alike. Alongside his brother Lenny, Fred helped lead the company for many years. He was known as someone who made things happen, never afraid to tackle a challenge and always willing to roll up his sleeves to get the job done.
Those who knew Fred will remember a man who genuinely cared about people and loved spending time with family and friends. He never met a stranger and was always ready to strike up a conversation, share a story, or offer his opinion on just about any subject. And while he was caring and generous, those closest to him would smile knowing that Fred could also be wonderfully stubborn. Once his mind was made up, there was rarely any changing it. That determination was simply part of who he was and one of the many qualities that made him so memorable.
Fred enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: good food, a cold beverage, meaningful conversation, and time spent with the people he loved. He considered himself fortunate to have enjoyed good health for much of his life and especially blessed to have shared so many years with Joanne.
Fred is survived by his four children, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Memorial contributions may be made to a cancer foundation in his name.
Fred’s legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the friendships he cultivated, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, determination, and unwavering love for those around him.
