Carl Lee Thomas, age 81, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026 in Crestwood Care Center in Shelby. He was born on January 22, 1945 in Lexington, Ohio to the late Walter Thomas and Bertha Siegfried Thomas.
He was a devoted Ohio sports fan and a lifelong supporter of his beloved Cleveland teams. Carl proudly cheered on the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Cleveland Guardians, as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes. His passion for sports was a cherished part of who he was and brought him countless moments of joy throughout his life.
Carl also loved to cook, and his signature dish was his famous fried chicken. It simply wasn’t an official Thomas family gathering without it. His cooking was one of the many ways he showed his love for those around him, bringing family and friends together around the table.
Above all, Carl’s family meant everything to him. They were at the heart of his life, and the love, laughter, and memories they shared with him will be cherished forever.
Carl will be fondly remembered by his children, Marsha (Andy) Lajoie, Randy (Tammy) Thomas and Troy Thomas; his sisters, Helen and Ilo; his five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind several extended family members and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray, Harold, Donald, Richard, Paul and Lowell.
