Edward L. Hochstetler, 79, of Danville, died Thursday afternoon, April 6, 2017 in UH Samaritan Medical Center ER following a sudden illness.
He was born April 14, 1937 in Nappanee, Indiana and was the son of the late Levi R. and Tillie (Schmucker) Hochstetler. He was a fruit farmer and member of the Old Order Amish.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine J. (Miller) Hochstetler; three sons: Erwin (Miriam) Hochstetler, of Lakeville, Aaron (Susan) Hochstetler, of Fredericktown, and William (Esther) Hochstetler, of Danville; five daughters: Naomi (Daniel) Kauffman, of Danville, Tillie (Ervin) Kauffman, of Loudonville, Lydia (Samuel) Raber, of Danville, Emma (Nelson Jr.) Kauffman, of Fredericktown, and Rebekah (Joseph) Hostetler, of Jeromesville; 53 grandchildren; nine brothers: Melvin (Esther) Hochstetler, of Ava, Illinois, Elmer (Mary) Hochstetler, of Bellefontaine, Jonas Hochstetler, of Bremen, Indiana, his twin Edwin (Emma) Hochstetler, of Howard, Levi (Betty) Hochstetler, of Goshen, Indiana, Rudy (Carrol) Hochstetler, of Millford, Indiana, Lamar (Elizabeth) Hochstetler, of Nappanee, Indiana, Moses Lee Hochstetler, of Nappanee, Indiana, and Raymond (Fannie Mae) Hochstetler, of Butler; and two sisters: Mary (Ura) Chupp and Esther Lou (Lester) Hellmuth, both of Nappanee, Indiana.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Henry Hochstetler; and one sister, Lydia Mae Stotzfus.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 9 at 9 a.m. at Shrock PreFab Shop, 23403 College Hill Road, Danville, conducted by Bishop Andrew A. Miller.
Burial will follow in Hostetler Cemetery, Brown Twp., Knox County. Family and friends may call Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8 at the home, 23241 College Hill Road, Danville, Ohio 43014.
The Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, is assisting the family with services.
